Your vet will administer the vaccine to your horse using a special applicator and syringe.
After vaccination, the majority of horses just get a swollen lip, similar in appearance to a bee sting, which usually does not affect them and reduces after a few days. A small pimple will develop on the inside of the lip. This is perfectly normal and will disappear within a few days. A small number of horses can get a raised temperature and this may make them sweat, shiver and look uncomfortable. This usually settles within 12-24 hours. If you are concerned contact your vet
Your vet will be able to advise which schedule is right for your horses. In case he or she advises re-vaccinations every six months, a prompt booster will be required if an outbreak occurs more than three months since the last vaccination.
